Duckweeds as Promising Food Feedstocks Globally
نویسندگان
چکیده
Duckweeds are the smallest flowering plants on Earth. They grow fast water’s surface and produce large amounts of biomass. Further, duckweeds display high adaptability, species found around globe growing under different environmental conditions. In this work, we report composition 21 ecotypes fourteen belonging to two subfamilies group (Lemnoideae Wolffioideae). It is reported presence starch soluble sugars, cell walls, amino acids, phenolics, tannins. These data were combined with literature recovered from 85 publications a compiled analysis that affords examination as possible food sources for human consumption. We compare compositions some most common conclude duckweed, which already in use Asia, can be an interesting source anywhere world.

متن کاملRedefining Agricultural Residues as Bioenergy Feedstocks
The use of plant biomass is a sustainable alternative to the reduction of CO₂ emissions. Agricultural residues are interesting bioenergy feedstocks because they do not compete with food and add extra value to the crop, which might help to manage these residues in many regions. Breeding crops for dual production of food and bioenergy has been reported previously, but the ideal plant features are...
متن کاملMicroalgal triacylglycerols as feedstocks for biofuel production: perspectives and advances.
Microalgae represent an exceptionally diverse but highly specialized group of micro-organisms adapted to various ecological habitats. Many microalgae have the ability to produce substantial amounts (e.g. 20-50% dry cell weight) of triacylglycerols (TAG) as a storage lipid under photo-oxidative stress or other adverse environmental conditions. Fatty acids, the building blocks for TAGs and all ot...
متن کاملPlant triacylglycerols as feedstocks for the production of biofuels.
Triacylglycerols produced by plants are one of the most energy-rich and abundant forms of reduced carbon available from nature. Given their chemical similarities, plant oils represent a logical substitute for conventional diesel, a non-renewable energy source. However, as plant oils are too viscous for use in modern diesel engines, they are converted to fatty acid esters. The resulting fuel is ...
